Deal of the Day graphics live on-site for 24 hours. Creating different unique designs every time we run one of these deals can be time consuming and costly. Similar to how grocery stores run monthly sales, we wanted to create a template suite that would be easy to build out, reduce production time, and have a consistent look and feel site wide that was easily recognizable by our customers.
The circle element—which is present in the majority of the suite—frames the toy or game that is on sale and is ideally always a lifestyle image. The image should always break the edge of the circle to create a sense of depth and visual interest. In the case where a lifestyle image is not available, such as some board games, we try to use an image where the contents are displayed in a more interesting manor.
We sketched out a few ideas of how these graphics could look. These were all done early on before we landed on the circle theme/concept. In the end these were far too busy and more complicated than we needed.
